Dhumal throws open art exhibition Oct 23- Oct 25, 2011

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday inaugurated the three-day-long art exhibition-cum-painting workshop showcasing some of the finest works of five women artists — all former fine art teachers — who have chosen Shimla to strike a chord with local culture.

“At an age when people are trying to market their own works, it is an unique effort on part of these five artists to showcase their work and also become a part of the workshop. The organisers, Chail Heritage Foundation,a NGO that promotes arts, culture, adventure events deserves credit for this,” said Dhumal.

Sanjay Sood of the Chail Foundation said: “There are a total of 40 exhibits carefully chosen for their relevance. In fact, it was chief minister who suggested that such an event should be organised in the town.”

The five artists are Rajinder Pasricha, Ambalicka Sood Jacob, Sukhranjan Kaur, Daljit Kaur and Jasmine Kaur.
